Paris 2024 Olympics Volunteer Convention: 23 March

The Volunteer Convention was held on Saturday 23 March in preparation for the 45,000 volunteers expected at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer. The Games will be held from 26 July to 11 August and for the Paralympics from 28 August to 8 September.

The Convention introduced “The Faces of the Games” poster by Jo di Bono and the slogan “Games Wide Open” to represent the aim to bring the Games to as many people as possible. The overall visual style is inspired by the Art Deco period of the 1924 Paris Olympics to mark its centenary.

Of the 45,000 volunteers, 20,000 attended the 2-hour Volunteer Convention at the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre. They will be assisting the events administration and the 14,900 athletes from 200 nations. The Paris region will require 34,000 volunteers and the rest of the volunteers will be dispersed around France for a range of events, such as sailing.

From 1,800 volunteers at airports to 2,500 drivers, to the 6,200 “village people” volunteers at the six Olympics Villages, the volunteers will be the “oil of a well-oiled machine.”

Online and in-person training begins from April 2024. The collection of accreditation badges and uniforms will take place from May 2024.
